Site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knowledge_management_system
  • This article gives a great description on KM Systems and what exactly it consists of. It also contains links to other helpful topics dealing with Knowledge Management and Information Systems.

  • I feel within a business a knowledge management system is very important. As a result of maintaining a well balanced and accurate management system allows the company to perhaps develop new or improved equipment. This provides the employees a better knowledge base of what is going on within the company. I completely agree with these two facts that were stated within the article. How is a company, corporation, or small business supposed to compete within the job market without improved equipment and not having the most updated info within the business? I would have to say that the operation won’t sustain their operation for very long. KMS can be used for a wide range of cooperative, collaborative, adhocracy and hierarchy communities, virtual organizations, societies and other virtual networks, to manage media contents; activities, interactions and work-flows purposes; projects; works, networks, departments, privileges, roles, participants and other active users in order to extract and generate new knowledge and to enhance, leverage and transfer in new outcomes of knowledge providing new services using new formats and interfaces and different communication channels. With this statement alone made within this specific article should give you an idea of the importance of having a solid KMS. Before reading this article I had no idea how vital this system is for a company to survive within a job market. This was a very interesting article and would recommend for everyone to read it due to the information that is enclosed.

It offers cost savings, greater efficiency and improved accuracy and reliability to all those involved in supplying or using financial data. The introduction of XBRL tags enables automated processing of business information by computer software, cutting out laborious and costly processes of manual re-entry and comparison. Computers can treat XBRL data "intelligently": they can recognise the information in a XBRL document, select it, analyse it, store it, exchange it with other computers and present it automatically in a variety of ways for users. XBRL greatly increases the speed of handling of financial data, reduces the chance of error and permits automatic checking of information.
